The UK and Commonwealth came together in June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, celebrating the historic reign of Queen Elizabeth II

What events celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in London?

Special celebrations honoured the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which included a four-day bank holiday weekend of spectacular royal events from 2 to 5 June.

London hosted a series of events to mark the historic Platinum Jubilee, from royal-themed exhibitions and special displays to guided tours and family activities. 

Other special events included a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, the magnificent Platinum Jubilee Pageant and a Platinum Party at the Palace which saw musical acts pay tribute to the service of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the lighting of beacons across the UK including the principle beacon outside Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952 at 25 years old.
