Who was Gianni Versace?

Gianni Versace was a visionary Italian fashion designer, best known for creating iconic looks using bold prints, vibrant colours and glamorous designs.

Versace championed inclusivity and self-expression and was a pioneer in merging fashion with celebrity culture, often dressing stars like Madonna, Elton John and Princess Diana. His famous runway shows captivated audiences worldwide. Versace was among the first to use supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford as brand ambassadors, helping define the ‘supermodel era’ of the 1990s.

His tragic death in 1997 shocked the world, but his legacy lives on through the Versace brand, now led by Dario Vitale, and his lasting influence on fashion, celebrity culture, and LGBTQ+ representation.
