About
Valence House is the local history museum for the parishes and boroughs of Barking and Dagenham. The collection is housed in a timber-framed manor house begun in the 15thC. Of particular interest are a fine set of 16thC, 17thC and 18thC portraits of the Fanshawe family and a period room of the same date. There is also a moat, a herb garden, shop and cafe.
